Medieval Roleplay is a SA-MP and open.mp server set in a fictional kingdom in the 1200s.

Characters
The first time you join, you make your character in the creator.
You choose a look, a name and an age, where your people come from and where you grew up. Next you spread points over five attributes and pick two traits. The attributes are Willpower, Craftmanship, Intelligence, Honor and Grace, and Piety. Your first job can be farmhand, kitchen hand, apprentice, novice or recruit.
Skins
There are over 140 character skins, from farmhands and monks to knights and bandits.
Cultures
Many roleplay servers force players to imagine languages themselves. Our intricate and historical culture system comes with its own language system inspired by World of Warcraft that makes it truly immersive. If you don’t understand a language, its sentences will be scrambled to you. Your culture also unlocks special talents, abilities and traits. Select a culture to read more about it.

German townsfolk build their standing on a craft.
People greet each other by that standing first, master, knight or burgher alike, ahead of any given name.
Guilds set the rules of trade in every town and defend their charters before lords and bishops.
Knights answer to an emperor or a duke under an oath they take seriously.
Rye bread, pork, cabbage and beer fill their tables.
Wool marked by rank tells everyone a person’s place at a glance.

The map
We extracted Flint County from GTA San Andreas and transformed it into a fitting island for a 12th to 13th century medieval era, fully custom modelled and vertex painted but using original GTA SA textures to stay true to the engine.
There are castles on hills and cliffs, several villages, farms, a monastery and a fort.

Seasons
The seasons turn in Medieval Roleplay. Summer light and long shadows over the village, golden leaves on the roads, snow that settles day by day, and lamplit windows on winter nights.
Professions
We don’t have traditional jobs or sidejobs like in other roleplay servers. The map is alive and there’s many things to be done. Your character starts as a pleb and can learn specific trades or skills to excel, or become a jack of all trades.
Minigames
Contrary to regular jobs that make you go from one checkpoint to another, every action has a small minigame attached to it. Through version 1, there are six different minigames scripted and every action requires a random amount of those.
Animations and sound
You will see your station change as you progress, your character will do animations, and special sounds will play. It’s designed to be interactive and immersive.
Stations
A station is a crafting table you place down specific to a profession. These usually need to be built from existing items which can be collected from nodes, random gatherables all around the map.
Nodes
Nodes are signified by a sparkle to make them easier to spot. Each node has its own minigame attached, similarly to how crafting or station crafting works.
Talents
When you start, you won’t be able to craft every station. Some of them require unlocks through talent points. Every 30 to 60 minutes, depending on what you do, you may roll one point that you can freely spend.
Fuel
Some stations need fuel to keep going, and essentially you can make them last forever as long as you keep fueling them. Ideal for a camping scene or when trekking through the forests.
Faith
We have a permadeath system.
Permadeath
If you die a few times in succession, based on disease you might have or how old your character is (we have an aging system), you will inevitably end up dying forever (character killed).
Heirs
The way to persist your progress is by producing an heir.
The faith
You may yet prolong your lifespan by contributing time, energy and patience towards the faith.
Mass
Father Anselm says mass at the monastery church, in Latin with English subtitles. The bell rings before it starts.
If you’re inside by the end of the Kyrie and kneel when the host is raised, you leave blessed. For two hours of play your wounds heal faster, and if you keep the blessing to the end your years pass more slowly.
Combat
All our combat is serverside and we do not use default GTA San Andreas combat.
We have a serverside brawl and sword fighting script, as well as bows, arrows, spears, and other projectiles that use a custom physics engine.
When you get struck down, you might start bleeding. You can track your damage per body part in your character panel. If you are unconscious or bleeding, another player is able to help you up or patch you up. Prolonged exposure to damage or being unconscious or bleeding will make you die and lose a point off your character’s life clock.
Horses
Our horses are fully animated and do not need client side mods.
We have built an advanced system that allows you to ride your horse smoothly up and down hills, with ping support for laggy players. Essentially we have rebuilt our own means of transport inside the GTA San Andreas engine to fit our historical and immersive needs.
There are no cars. You get around on foot, on a donkey or on a horse. Stand next to one and press F to get on. A horse can gallop until it runs out of stamina. Then it has to rest before it can gallop again.
Strangers and companions
Nobody knows your name when you arrive.
Other players see “A stranger” above your head until you press H to introduce yourself. They’ll still know your name after you log out and back in.
Every culture group has its own language. If you don’t speak it, the words come out scrambled, like the first line in the chat below. Talk only carries as far as your voice would.
Ways to express your roleplay
- /me
- Describe what your character does.
- /melow
- The same as /me, but only people within 5 metres see it.
- /ame
- Show an action above your head without it going into the chat.
- /my
- Describe something that belongs to you, as in /my hands are shaking.
- /do
