The Crusades are military operations conducted by the European Christian population against the Muslim states in territories considered holy by the Christian world.
In year 10955 the idea of The First Crusade was preached at the Council of Clermont by Pope Urban II, with the goal of assisting the Byzantine Empire against the aggression of the Seljuk-Turks. However, this objective changed and became the direct Christian Catholic control of the Holy Land.
Following internal conflicts in Syria and Anatolia the Crusaders launched an offensive against the Muslims, overcoming any military opposition they had faced on the way to the holy city of Jerusalem.
