The Fall of the Dwarfs (The River)
The monumental mountain of all, the becoming and the reckoning, the Dragon's Peak, not only brought glory, fame and bliss, but distress and fear for the locals who lived below. After cursing the sinful lizard Beatrice, it is said Nidhogg the almighty and demon spawned dragon had from time to time visited the Dragon's Peak and returned to cause great havoc, for the sole purpose of his imprisoned serpent cousin Beatrice. The costly damage the dragon generated for the villages and the people were of too much value, however, some say the destructive Nidhogg is famously known for gnawing the roots of the earth and hence they believed Nidhogg was only being generous for the penalties he had laid upon the people, but none had truly known if the outcomes were out of generosity or to poke fun. It has almost been a millennia since the becoming of the Dragon's Peak, and many had resided by the mountain. One of the coexisting neighbours was a Dwarf King by the name of Arardon, who had led the rest of his gold hungry dwarfs to seek out the treasures that lurked below what we now know as the longest River in all of the lands, which at the time was nothing but a pile of rubble.
Arardron was one of the last Great Dwarf kings that lived below the Mightiest Mountain of all, the Dragon's Peak. He lived in his kingdom named Nuratdrel and mined the most precious and the most beautiful of crystals and gold from the concurrent caves, but famously gained his source of gems from the River. His wits, wisdom and richness were known by all, Arardon, beloved by his people, first begun his mining expeditions after his arrival to the bottom of Dragon's Peak, where he would settle and call for a new gracious dwelling where all of his family of dwarflings would live happily. The River was endlessly deep, deep enough to build fortresses and the most magnificent of things, and so it was the most valuable cave of all. The witnesses of Arardon's glorious workings say that they cannot be measured in today's money. However, as deep as the cave's went, with all the gold and gems to mine, the smaller their vaults had become for they had become far too rich. Arardon, the Great Dwarf King of Nuratdel, wedded his beautiful Yossula before the settlement and arrival below the Mightiest Mountain known as the Dragon's Peak, the tales of her beauty and the jewelry Yossula had possessed were of a legend. It's said she lived in the lowest point of the Mightiest Mountain in a bed of pure gold which her servants had mined. She and Arardon lived there in happiness and ruled the people of the Great Kingdom of Nuratdrel. Dwarfs from under the Mighty Mountain were not of warriors, but of glorious craftsmanship and so they depended on their tools rather than their knack to fight, their competent abilities included smithing and mining with skills we today can only dream of. Their weapons struck fear into the heart's of everyone, and their armours protected them even from the strongest of foes, legends even say they protected you from the fiery's breath of a dragon.
When Nidhogg the destructive and cruel dragon had made his return to the Dragon's Peak, he had once again craved for a massacre. Nidhogg's arrival had most certainly alerted the people below for that of a huge beastly dragon was not to go unnoticed, his shadow grazed through the clouds, standing atop of the mighty mountain, reclaiming the crest as his rightful grounds. Nidhogg ensured his entry made the folk aware of his appearance, Nidhoggs' overwhelming twin wings augmented in unimaginable diameter, the blockage of the sun had cast a shadow unto the land below. All good things eventually come to an end, especially from that of a fury induced serpent, Nidhogg the rage fueled Dragon as the beast that he is stopped at no cost. The King of the dwarfs, Arardon, would commence his offerings with gold, jewels and gemstones only mad men would refuse, and of course as Nidhogg was not of a man and so he had laughed at the offer and instead insisted on taking everything, including their lives. Nothing could have saved the dwarfs from their annihilation, not even their armour, because by then it was already too late. After Nidhogg the Dragon outsourced his fury unto the dwarfs and their glorious works, the caves toppled and crumbled upon one another, deserting and exterminating the remainders of the dwarfs that had once made a home for themselves, the sky lit in beautiful fireworks and scarred the riverbank with ash and smoke as marked trails along the land which we know as the longest River of our lands, such bearings, to keep in mind the blazing source of rage has still yet to make his mark upon this earth we walk.
