Beginnings

Catholicism has been instated in the Flintwhenian region ever since 1044 and the invasion led by Oswyn and his army mostly consisting of catholic warriors originating from mainland England. The religion battled extinction during the various wars and rebellions on the island but always maintained a small community of believers. In 1046 the believers finally received some space to breathe and begin building some sanctuaries such as the first monastery built by Priest Saeward, one of the first people to begin spreading the religion around the island heavily. After the finishing of Ironcrest, no plans for a church in the town were made and focus on maintaining the old monastery and some new sanctuaries was put.

Local population, although not happy with the that Christianity was slowly ensuring amongst them did not cause too much trouble as it did not interfere within their daily lives. In 1082, Duke Ilfred's attempt to quickly convert the population of Flintwhenia to christian gave great trouble to the church, especially the fact that over 1000 people. The people's rage turned to the old monastery which was under heavy attack from random raids during the night and needed proper guards to make sure it survives.

This fact alone caused the church to begin works on a church in Ironcrest to move inside the walls as quickly as possibly. The massacre however, caused a good portion of the population to turn Christian and so, in half a year or less, the raids vanished and everything was back to normal.

In 1085 the church is finished and most activity is moved in the town, with small communities of monks and nuns remaining at the old monastery.

Fighting the Infidel

In 1094, the war caused by the self-proclaimed King of Flintwhenia caused a spark to turn into a flame, making some other religions on the island begin revolting and joining Olav's army. Great efforts from the church to support the army and the fight were made by offering the church as hospital and also a small bakery at times. In 1095 the battle seemed hopeless and some of the community began plotting and escape towards the mountains but Priest Alchere refused these plans and persuaded the community to stay and fight to the last man for the Christian religion.

After winning the The Battle for Ironcrest, the Christian community jumped in population with most of the town believing God himself saved them from the infidels.

A New Age

With increasing popularity of Christianity on the island, Archbishop Anselm of Canterbury prides the Flintwhenian church for fighting infidels and declares the first Bishop of Flintwhenia: Bishop Alchfrid of Flintwhenia. Alchfrid immediately begins modernizing church facilities and expands the town's church into a bigger model, being able to host hundreds at one.
