- May
  • A knight named Oswyn invades from the south-western side of Flintwhenia with 3,000 men, most of whom are hired mercenaries and gains control over most of Westerheim in the matter of a month, defeating hastily assembled and spread out forces in multitudes of smaller battles. The King of Westerheim retreats to the mountain fortress of Dragon's Peak
  • The invaders reach the mountain and besiege the fort. Oswyn’s forces are split, with his main army holding camp at the foot of the mountain, while a smaller force remains at the top to maintain the siege and starve the defenders out

  • The barons and petty lords of Warstade set aside their differences and join their forces to repel the invader and unite the two islands under one kingdom
  • 1045
- April
  • News of this reaches the invaders, and Oswyn takes his army to meet the enemy in the field.
  • The two forces clash at the Battle of Harshwood Forest, where the invading army is victorious and gives chase to the routing forces all the way to the bridge that connects the two islands, halted only by the fact that the flintwhenians have rallied on the other side.

- January
  • After nearly a year-long standstill, King Orm of Warstade and Oswyn parley at the middle of the bridge, and after a long talk, the war is concluded and peace is accepted under the circumstance that Oswyn officially recognizes Warstade as an independent kingdom, and swears that neither him, nor his children after him would wage war against the kingdom.
  • Oswyn leaves half of his force near the border and orders the construction of a fort, taking the other half to march to the top of the mountain to conclude the siege.

  • Upon the arrival of the invaders, the defenders agree to surrender King Alan of Westerheim in return for their lives. The king did not live long as he was executed on the spot by Oswyn himself, along with his children and wife.
  • 1047
  • The young knight, having left all his forces on the island, sails to England and swears fealty to King Edward the Confessor and returns to the island as Duke of Westerheim and founder of the noble house of Ironcrest.
  • 1049
  • Fort Eastshield’s construction is completed, serving the purpose of a strategic point of defense against a possible future eastern invasion.
  • Oswyn returns to the place of his first battle against the defeated Westerheim forces and orders the construction of a city in honor of his victory and names it Ironcrest, to serve as a reminder to all of the name of the dynasty that seized control over the island.
  • 1055
  • The construction of Ironcrest is completed and is officially made the capital of Westerheim and the seat for all dukes to come.
  • Additional construction works related to the mines of The Dragon Mountain, along with infrastructure and roads throughout the whole duchy and the restoration of damages inflicted in the war proceed for the next couple of years.
  • 1064
  • Duke Oswyn Ironcrest passes away of a fever at the age of 47, his eldest son Ilfred inherits his father’s titles and lands at the age of 19.
  • Oswyn’s death slowly disspiates the stability of the realm, as tensions between local flintwhenians and the new anglo-saxon population, comprised mainly of the former invading soldiers begin rising significantly.
  • 1082
  • Duke Ilfred attempts to convert the region to Christianity by force, and the First Flintwhenian Revolt ensues in the capital by the local population in defense of their old heretic faith of their god Vayrsesos, also wishing to raise one of their own kind as King of Westerheim. Ilfred is killed in the incident(dies at the age of 37), and his brother, Stephen brutally puts down the rebellion in two days and orders a mass execution outside the city gates of all who were captured, along with those who did not wish to convert to Christianity. It is assumed that at least 1000 were killed.
  • Osmund, son of Ilfred takes up his father's mantle at the age of four and is guided and tutored by his uncle, who serves as his regent.
  • 1090
  • King Bjorn, son of Orm dies under mysterious circumstances and his son Olav takes his place. Convicted that the Ironcrests had a hand in his father's death, he travels to other lands and hires sellswords, along with recruiting any foreigners willing to join him, promising them land, glory and riches.
  • 1094
- April
  • Having gathered the greatest military host of Flintwhenia of 5,000 men, Olav declares war under promises of vengeance against the English and calls himself King of Flintwhenia, vowing to liberate and unite the island under one king as his predecessors had once attempted.
  • Duke Osmund pleads for help from the mainland, with Geoffrey Aethelwulf being the only one to answer the call, sending his son, Theomund with 1,000 men by sea to assist in the war.
  • Believing that he could join forces with the garrison of Eastshield and successfully repel the invaders, Stephen marches east with 2,000 men. King Olav burns the land as he goes, looting every settlement in his way and rallying any of the local flintwhenians to his cause.
  • Stephen, already deep in enemy occupied territory is surrounded and unable to retreat back to the capital by the time news of Eastshield falling reach him. Caught at battleOfSomewhere, his forces are nearly completely killed or captured and whatever few managed to escape from the battle returned to the capital
  • Theomund Aethelwulf arrives with his host of 1,200 men and garrisons the capital.
  • Due to successful raids and skirmishes by sellswordCompany, the forces of Warstade are unable to make it to the capital in time before winter, and are forced to set up camp a day's march from the capital.
  • 1095
  • Winter passes, and Ironcrest is besieged by approximately 4,000 to 5,000 flintwhenians - having suffered some casualties due to the harsh winter, while the defenders only have the total force of 2,000 men.
  • On the 4th day of the siege, Vikings under [thuleCharacter] threaten to blockade the capital by sea and deny them access to food supplies unless they are paid. Theomund meets their terms and offers them land on behalf of Duke Osmund if they join the war and help, adding 200 more men to the defenders' side.
  • The Battle for Ironcrest commences on the 15th day as a surprise attack, lasting throughout the entire night. The defenders, led by the coalition of Theomund’s host, the garrison, led by the boy-duke Osmund and [thuleCharacter]'s host all fight bravely, yet caught offguard and exhausted, are close to defeat until Godric Aethelwulf's host arrives and smashes the flintwhenian forces, setting them to a rout. At least half are killed or captured, and King Olav is among the captives. Duke Osmund however, was found lying dead on the battlefield.
  • Godric takes his forces and makes haste to chase down the defeated flintwhenian army and drive them out of Westerheim, denying them any chance to regroup
  • King Olav is publicly executed by Godric after his return to the capital, and as the Ironcrest male lineage is extinct, Godric marries Osmund's sister [femaleName] and is proclaimed as Duke of Westerheim by the local nobility.
  • Theomund is appointed as regent to Godric as he sails to England to swear his loyalty to King William II
  • 1096
  • Godric sails with the remainder of his army to fight in The First Crusade, joining the party of yada yada lords -- link'
  • Theomund works with the local nobility and gentry to stabilize Westerheim from the recent war and restore order and peace
  • 1100
  • Godric returns to Westerheim after the conclusion of The First Crusade. Theomund steps down from his position as duke-regent and Godric takes his lawful position as ruler of the dukedom.
  • Archbishop Anselm of Canterbury appoints Bishop Alchfrid as the new and first Bishop of Flintwhenia.
